To promote "Nari Shakti," PM Modi announces a Rs 100 reduction in the price of LPG cylinders.
On recognition of International Women's Day, the government has decided to reduce the price of LPG cylinders by Rs 100, according to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the prime minister stated, "This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti."
"We also aim to ensure a healthier environment and support family well-being by making cooking gas more affordable," he said. This is consistent with our commitment to granting women 'Ease of Living' and empowering them.
In anticipation of Raksha Bandhan, the Union Cabinet gifted women with a 14.2 kg LPG cooking gas cylinder last year, which was discounted by Rs 200. The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) recipients were also eligible for the price decrease.
A 14.2kg LPG (liquefied Petroleum Gas) cylinder in the national capital cost Rs 1,103 up until August 2023. Nevertheless, the rate dropped to Rs 903 following the price reduction.
The previous year's discounted rate for those who are eligible for the PM's Ujjwala plan was Rs 703. Under the PM Ujjwala initiative, the government offered a subsidy of Rs 200 per LPG cylinder in March 2023.
