pm modi visit to kashmir
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Srinagar for many activities. This will be his first visit to the valley following the repeal of Article 370.
By midday, the PM is expected to touch down at the Srinagar technical airport. He will next take a chopper to the Badami Bagh cantonment and proceed to the headquarters of the 15 Corps of the Indian Army. His procession will travel around the city before arriving at Bakshi Stadium, the site of the event.
PM Modi posted on the microblogging platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter, saying, "Today, March 7, I will be in Srinagar to participate in the 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir' program. There will also be a number of development projects dedicated to the country. Among these are noteworthy projects related to strengthening the agro-economy, valued at approximately Rs. 5000 crore. There will also be several tourism-related works dedicated to the country."
The PM's open rally will take place at the famous Bakshi Stadium rather than the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), which is located on the Dal Lake's edge.
Modi's events in Srinagar in 2018 and 2019 were held indoors at the SKICC, under tight security, with calls for a separatist strike.
Interestingly, though, Bakshi Stadium has been closed for ceremonial events since 2018 because of security concerns. This time, PM Modi will address the public from there. August 2023 will see the stadium host the Independence Day parade following improvements.
Prime Minister Modi held an open rally at Srinagar's Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in 2014 and 2015.
visit to Jammu & Kashmir within a month's time. Last month, Modi traveled to the Jammu region to officially launch a number of development initiatives. He spoke at a public demonstration in the Temple City as well.
Tightened Security
IGP SPG Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat was observed by a group of Jammu and Kashmir Police examining the location and its environs.
"A police source stated, "Several checkpoints have been set up, frisking is occurring at key locations, and all entry and exit points of the venue and the city are being closely monitored."
In order to prevent any IED assaults, he said, Bomb Disposal Squad members are conducting routine checks surrounding the site and sniffer dogs have also been stationed at certain spots.
Massive Development Schemes
To support J&K's agribusiness, the PM would devote to the country a 'Holistic Agriculture Development Programme' worth approximately Rs 5,000 crore during the program. Along with dedicating himself to the country, he will initiate several tourism-related projects worth over Rs 1,400 crore under the PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) and Swadesh Darshan schemes. One such project is the "Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine" in Srinagar.
The PM will also introduce the "Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign" and the "Dekho Apna Desh People's Choice Tourist Destination Poll." Additionally, he will reveal the tourism spots chosen under the Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) Program.
In addition, Modi will meet with recipients of several government programs, such as women achievers, lakhpati didis, farmers, business owners, and others, and he will give appointment orders to about 1,000 newly recruited government employees from Jammu and Kashmir.
'Holistic Agriculture Development Programme' (HADP) will be dedicated to the country by PM Modi. In Jammu and Kashmir, the HADP is an integrated program that covers the whole range of operations in the three primary agri-economy domains: livestock husbandry, agriculture, and horticulture.
Through the specialized Daksh Kisan portal, the program is anticipated to provide about 2.5 lakh farmers with skill development. For the benefit of the farming community, the program will build around 2,000 Kisan Khidmat Ghars and put strong value chains in place.
Project Hazratbal Shrine
'Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine' in Srinagar is one of the initiatives that the Prime Minister would dedicate to the country.
Project 'Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine' has been carried out with the aim of providing pilgrims and tourists visiting the shrine with top-notch facilities and infrastructure. The main elements of the project are the site development of the entire area, which includes building the shrine's boundary wall, lighting the Hazratbal shrines precinct, enhancing the ghats and Devri paths surrounding the shrine, building a Sufi interpretation center, building a tourist facilitation center, installing signage, building a multi-level parking structure, building a public convenience block, and building the shrine's entrance gateway, among other things.
